Drink of the Day: Cognac Menthe Frappe

This marks my first drink with cognac, and I'd love to tell you how it was in a cocktail, how it interacted with other ingredients. But unfortunately, my taste buds are in a mint coma.

That's because the Cognac Menthe Frappe has just two ingredients, the cognac and creme de menthe, and there's twice as much of the latter as there is the former. So that's all you really taste. Oh, and for good measure, the cocktail is decorated with torn mint leaves atop the glass, giving you an extra scent of mint the moment you raise it to your mouth. There's a little cognac burn, but not any of the flavor.

And yet, this is a nice drink, if you like mint. Almost a pick-me-up. Just don't expect to enjoy the subtleties of the cognac.
